Since August 2019, the Hospital Parque Vegas Altas (Don Benito, Badajoz), has included on its service portfolio our Radio frequency treatment of haemorrhoids under local anaesthesia, the Rafaelo Procedure®.

Haemorrhoids, also known as piles, are lumps that appear inside and around the anus. Its origin is varied and sometimes not well-known, however, they are usually associated with chronic constipation, pregnancy, obesity, a low-fiber diet or even some genetic causes. Haemorrhoids are fairly common and they usually lead to some specific symptoms such as itchy anus, pain and inflammation around the anus, or even rectal bleeding.

Small haemorrhoids can usually be solved with some medication or some diet changes. However, if they are not correctly treated, they can aggravate. In that case, a surgical intervention might be needed.

The Rafaelo Procedure® is an advanced radio frequency treatment of haemorrhoids under local anaesthesia, which can be used in outpatient surgery. The procedure usually lasts about 15 minutes, and it enables the patient to recover its daily activities promptly, thanks to the shrinkage and even disappearance of the haemorrhoids, and the improvement or the termination of its symptoms.
