Currently, there are several solutions for the preservation of organs that for years have proven to be effective in their operation. But how are they different from each other? What criteria do we take to use one or the other? the answer is its composition: the objective of all is preservation, only that not all are equally favorable for the organs action mechansim .
Why Custodiol HTK is the ideal solution ?:
- It is a solution focused on offering maximum protection for the liver, pancreas, heart and kidney.
- Its composition allows to provide the necessary hypothermia, prevent cellular edema and avoid biochemical lesions. Provides energy precursors (ATP) for rapid regeneration of the Na + / K + pump
- It is the only one that does not contain adenosine or glutamate (which are precursors of energy), but has, as a differentiating element, Ketoglutarate, which acts directly in the Krebs cycle.
- The essential is to use solutions similar to the intracellular compartment. That is why Custodiol HTK contains a composition low in K + (15 mmol / l) and low in Na + (10mmol / l) that allows a complete ionic balance to produce the necessary cellular metabolic stop / recover cell metabolism immediately.
- It has greater osmotic space than the rest of solutions, which have to compensate for the lower osmotic space by increasing the osmotic pressure with other additional components that can generate higher viscosity in the composition and that can affect the penetration of the liquid in the microcirculation, less fluidity of the solution in hypothermia and unequal cooling of the organ.
- Thanks to this greater osmotic space, Custodiol HTK contains higher composition of Histin (198 mmol / l compared to 30 mmol / l that may have other solutions) and allows to create the buffer system so necessary to avoid risk of cell damage by preventing intracellular acidosis and reduce cellular edema. contains lower Ca2 + for a lower intracellular calcium intake during reperfusion, preventing the activation of phospholipases that attack the cell membrane.
- It also adds Mannitol and Tryptophan, which is a protector of the cell membrane (1 mmol / l), without the need to add other additives to the composition such as Glutathione, which “auto-oxidizes” if not added just before of perfusion as it happens in many other preservation solutions.
To date, there has not yet been any study / case in which Custodiol HTK has not demonstrated its benefits against organ preservation and transplantation, another reason why Custodiol HTK becomes one of the safest solutions and efficient
