Last week, on the 5th and 6th of March, a workshop on the laparoscopic approach in POP (Pelvic Organ Prolapse), was organized in Hospital Juan Ramón Jiménez (Huelva, Spain).
The workshop was organized by Dr. Vidal Mazo, and it deepened on the surgical laparoscopic technique in which a mesh is inserted in order to sustain the pelvic floor in those female patients with POP, technique known as sacrocolpopexy. In particular, during the theoretical part of the workshop the pelvic floor’s functional anatomy was described, as well as the laparoscopic surgical procedure to treat POP, emphasizing the mesh placement technique. On the next day, a live surgery took place, in which attendees could visualize the mesh placement. In that particular case, a Dynamesh® PRS 5cm x 27cm was used.
